In this exciting DVD, Joe Miller illustrates several “Spattering Techniques” he has learned over his many years of painting that will add lots of colorful texture and interest to your paintings. He demonstrates the use of watercolor and toothbrush spatter, spray bottle spatter and of course the use of Cheap Joe’s Spatter Screens. Joes teaches you to apply watercolor directly onto the screen to produce a wide array of colorful textures.
Joe Miller is not only the founder of Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, but is a great artist and instructor as well. He is the author of “Joe’s Journal: The Art and Tales of a Sojourner”, and has several videos on the market. Joe recently won the distinguished Dolphin Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the American Watercolor Society. Only 11 other artists have ever won this award. 33 minutes.
For those that can’t turn up your speakers, here is a transcription.
So now I’m going to take one of the screens that we have. This Cheap Joe’s spatter screen, which I think again, is so much fun. And you take a brush, you can use a big brush or a little brush and you simply take pure paint and you paint right on the screen. Now watch this, just put it right on there. Clean your brush, pick up another color. It doesn’t matter what color. Unless you have a color theme in mind you can pick up any colors you want to through here. And then you hold this about half an inch from your paper and you simply get right above it and you blow. I’m going to show you, now I’m going to put the screen right on the paper and then you just blow. Look, there it is right here, can you see this?
